  • Lomography updates its Lomo MC-A with (real) gold-plated “certified AI-free” designs and convenience upgrades.

Lomo MC-A is the last step in the evolution of the LC-A camera line, which started with a Soviet copy of the Cosina CX-2. Around the time of the dissolution of the USSR, Russian makers began building those cameras directly for Lomography to resell worldwide. The production eventually moved to China, but the designs kept evolving, with the latest being a fully-automatic point-and-shoot with LiDAR autofocus.

Launched on October 22nd 2025¹, it’s the first true autofocus body from the company, a significant accomplishment for any manufacturer — as many have tried and failed in various ways².

The cameras come with an impressive set of features:

    — A 32mm retractable f/2.8 multi-coated glass lens.

    — 40cm/16” close focus.

    — Auto (LiDAR) and manual (zone-focusing³) switch.

    — Auto, aperture-priority, and manual shooting modes.

    — Built-in flash with a PC-sync port.

    — Multiple and long exposure modes.

The updated “super-limited-edition” cameras feature an updated design (I’ve already mentioned the gold-plated version, which goes for $649, plus another, Noir, for $599). It looks like the company listened to the feedback on their original piece and removed the flavoury quote engraving from the top plate. But that’s not all; they’ve also added:

    — An easier way to load film.

    — The camera remembers settings between power-ups.

    — The Program mode now favours f/3.5 (for a wider DoF).

    — A longer LCD delay for readability.

The cameras are available at the Lomography shop today: shop.lomography.com/camera….
