The Shape of Dancing

The Shape of Dancing is a creative collaboration between the contemporary ballet dancer, a ceramic artist, namely their shop, and the photographer.

This series is the result of a photoshoot made at the rustic interior of a ceramic workshop. Shot outdoors, with no additional gear or lights.

The images are meant to focus on the dance movements and their interaction with the environment. This is the first project in which I suggested Laura create fluid movements, rather than static poses for the camera.

The yard was packed with tools and raw materials. Aside from the dancer’s contemporary haircut, the props and the location produced strong nostalgic vibes.

The movements, limited to the paved alley, are meant to mimic the austere lines of the building.
