Jakarta, modernized. The revitalized commuter train, MRT, and LRT are in. All to accommodate the sleepless people of this advancing metropolitans.

Working in a remote district is common in Jakarta. Many people live their lives way past the sunset, taking the last train, usually around midnight, to go home. The clock strikes 12, but the trains and station workers are still hard at work. Security, engineers, and the cleaning crew take care of the transit. They prepare the heart of the city for the next restless day, to open at four.

The last train is quietest. On that ride, I take night shots without having to invade other people’s personal space. Peacefully, freely.

Seeing and capturing how hard the people work to survive in this metropolis washes me over with gratefulness, a little more.
