I have been fascinated with photography since childhood. I have owned several cameras since then and have been enjoying both analog and digital formats to date. However, I do not have any instant camera so I do not have any photos to share in the said format. However, I must say I am very fascinated with taking images of everyday things around me. Sometimes I dream of creating interesting photographs and here I share one of them.

I don’t have a instant photo to show but here’s one of my first ever astrophotography shots! I know it’s not the best but it holds a special place in my heart.

I-Type film is identical to Polaroid 600 film. Their batches vary in lift-ability, I usually have best luck with black and white film (either I-Type/600 or SX-70).

Here’s an emulsion lift tripytch I made earlier this month of a local decorative locomotive! Related question about the I-Type film: is it lift-friendly?

Re: XA, I couldn’t get used to the “touch” shutter button no matter how much I wanted to like that camera, unfortunately. I also had bad luck with the rangefinder patch. Which is why I’m a bit jealous it worked out for you. Maybe I’ll give it another try someday. 🤔

The negative format of the original “finger-sized” Minox is NOT 110. It is 8x11 mm and was named that way (unlike e.g. the 110, 126, 120, 220 formats, which did not contain the negative format in the name itself). 8x11 was introduced by Minox in 1948 with the Minox A. The 110 format is 13 x 17 mm (in a plastic cassette with background paper) and was presented by Kodak in 1972.

I prefer the Olympus XA line (XA with the rangefinder and easyer to handle apertur slider beside the lens, and XA2, a real P&S, with the 3 zone focus marks) over Minox 35, which I find to fiddely to set up the aperture.

Turned out perfectly! DoF is one of my favourite optic properties, there’s so much that can be done with it and so much to learn also. ❤️

I took this picture a few years ago. I had just learned about depth of field and I was trying to take a picture of our cat, but he kept moving until he was partially behind the flower. Thanks to understanding the DoF concept I know if I took the picture he would still be sharp and the flowers wouldn’t distract too much because they would not be sharp, giving this result. It’s one of my favourite instant pictures.

My problem with the costs is definitely due to active GAS syndrome :-)

But what the heck — after all it’s a hobby and that can cost something.

Some of the cameras I use daily are older than my parents and will surely outlive me. Incredible pieces of technology; can’t say that about many modern inventions.

Obtained a 250 land camera and a single shot of film. First time in over 25 years I’ve taken an instant shot, first time in probably 50 years the camera was used (if it was ever used). I’m surprised the camera even worked.
